I would REALLY like to eat a toasted bagel with cream cheese. It is driving me crazy. But, there are NO bagels in Cuenca. I live in a city that has NO BAGELS!
I think I will be on the hunt for a while, so if anyone has any suggestions please send them my way!
You could try making your own. I found a recipe from: www.myviva.ca/Shows/All-shows/Its-Just-Food/Episode%20Recipes/Season1/Episode11.aspx. I myself have not tried to make it, but it didn't look too complicated when I watched the actual episode. BTW, I am really enjoying reading your blog. I hope to one day visit Cuenca and who knows, maybe one day I might end up moving to this beautiful city. Good luck with your search for bagels or an attempt to make them. Supermaxi usually has bagels on one of the very bottom shelves in the bread section. They seem to disappear from time to time but eventually show up again (gee, they kinda sound nomadic don't they!?).
